What is a leased line?

Leased lines refer to an 'always on' symmetric telecommunications connection between two points that includes traditional fixed circuit technology and next generation Ethernet services. A leased line is a private high-performance circuit that a customer can rent annually to carry both voice and data. A leased line is usually deployed over dedicated fibre-optic cables.

Why would I need a leased line?

If access to a 24/7, high-speed Internet service is critical to your business operations, then a leased line offers the best connectivity option for you. As it is a dedicated, direct and uncontended circuit, line speed is always maximised and available, as and when you need it.

What speeds are available with a leased line?

How long will my leased line service take to install?

The full process typically takes up to 90 days, but this can increase if civil engineering work is required to install physical fibre into a building.

How long will it take for my leased line service to go live?

Once we have completed the provisioning, network handover, configuration and testing of your new circuits, it normally takes another five days for your new leased line services to go live.

We have fibre at our premises; can this be used for the leased line service?

While all quotations assume existing fibre is present and available for use, we would still need to conduct a site survey, to ascertain whether you had the correct fibre present and available for use. We can only determine this following your order placement.

How long will you take to process my order?

The whole process can typically take up to 10 days, as we need to place your order internally with the most appropriate supplier, before it can be validated and processed.

Can my leased line service be upgraded?

Yes, but there are some restrictions that you need to be aware of. A new circuit and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) may be required, when you are looking to upgrade from an older service. Depending on the speed of your new circuit, you may also be required to pay increased annual rental charges

How secure is a leased line service?

Security is maximised with a leased line, as it’s a dedicated circuit which you have the sole use of, preventing other organisation from accessing your critical data.

Can I use my existing firewall?

Yes. Any firewall can be installed behind the CPE to protect the customer network from security breaches; however as we work with some of the country’s best firewall providers, we can offer solutions that best fits your requirements.

How will you manage my leased line service?

We offer 24/7, 365 day support, as part of a Fully Managed service that can include a 4 hour response time
